19 May 2026 Cley NWT and Holme Dunes NWT

Woke up feeling rough still. It was raining a bit when we went to breakfast and when we loaded up the car, so we decided not to bother going back to Hickling Broad and instead drove up to Cley where we just stopped for a cup of tea and a look at the nearest bodies of water.

There were a few of the usual suspects but nothing startling. We did get a Red Kite shortly after leaving there, however. After Cley, We still had some time to kill before we could check into our cottage at Docking so we drove to NWT Holmes Dune. We only really looked at the first hide where we had really close views (about twenty feet) of a Spoonbill. As we watched, another flew in but didn’t stay long and neither seemed to be particularly aware of the other.

We got a single Hobby but lots of Swifts. As we left, we got very close views of two Marsh Harriers or more or less ground level.
